Continuity task that involves filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue.

This task should demonstrate match on action, shot reverse shot and the 180-degree rule.

The Plan
Emma will then walk over to Abbie who is sat on the bench on the other side of the room. She will then sit down beside her and this is where we will bring the 180 degree rule, this is used for when you film a scene using separate shots, it's important that people understand where everything in the scene is and the 180 degree rule will help do this.

After this the characters will exchange a few words and then this is when we will do the shot/reverse shot of a conversation had between the two characters. When the conversation is over between the two, Abbie will stand up and leave the dance studio, leaving Emma sat on her own the bench.

We would like to try and go in the dance studio to film our preliminary task. Firstly we will have a shot of Emma walking down the corridor towards the dance studio where she is going to meet Abbie, then when she reaches the door, while opening and walking through, the camera shot will switch to another shot but it will still match the first action shot. This is called the match on action shot. For our shot it will show Emma walking in from the outside and walking in from the inside. Then when in the dance studio the conversation between the two will demonstrate a shot/reverse shot and also this contributes to the 180 degree rule.
